The choice of plate mounted, short or long case and bifurcated units offers considerable scope to designers of smoke exhaust systems for unobtrusive, yet highly effective and reliable installations.

Structural integrity at high temperatures is provided by steel casings, whilst
fabricated steel or cast aluminium impellers are used according to the
design temperature - and for Class 3 applications, the motor housings are
lined with high performance heat insulating material.

A wide range of voltages, frequencies and speeds can be supplied - the
cast-iron bodied motors are Class 'H' or Enhanced  Class 'H' rated and
sealed as required to IP54 or IP55. In addition to 'once only' use in
emergency conditions, dual-purpose units are available to provide general
day-to-day ventilation, and may be fitted with two speed motors if required.

1.  Identify the temperature/time duty
     demanded by the particular application, and
     hence the Class of Emergency Fume and
     Smoke Extract Fan(s) required.

2.  Check the mounting position(s) to select the
     type(s) or Fan required. Also check fixing
     dimension and details.

3.  Determine the air volume and pressure
     development required ans use these criteria
     in conjunction with the performance graphs
     to select the fan(s) needed to initially select
     the size and speed of the fan(s).

4.  Determine wether dual-purpose or once-
     only emergency use is required.

5.  Confirm the voltage and frequency of the
     electrical supply to be used, so that the
     correct motor can be fitted. This infor-
     mation, together with that from items 1-4
     above will also enable us to advise you of the
     motor currnets to be carried by the wiring.
     Note also that the electrical power circuits
     and supply must be fire protected.
6.  Confirm the standard of motor sealing
     required, and any special operating
     environment.

7.  Complete your specification for the
     Emergency Fume and Smoke Extract Fan.
